hCaptcha is not a HUMAN application

hCaptcha is an application that runs on (is supported by, powered by) HUMAN Protocol. It is not a HUMAN Protocol application. hCaptcha is developed by Intuition Machines: a partner of HUMAN. IM and HUMAN should not be conflated, and the possessive ‘we’ or ‘our’ never used to refer to hCaptcha.

EXAMPLE:

hCaptcha, the first application to run on the Protocol, is interacted with by hundreds of millions of users every month.

HUMAN Protocol’s first application, hCaptcha, is used by 15% of the Internet.

Applications running on HUMAN Protocol already access hundreds of millions of data labelers.

HUMAN Protocol is home to the world’s biggest data-labeling workforce.

The success of hCaptcha is evidence of HUMAN Protocol’s viability and capability, but it is not synonymous with the success of HUMAN Protocol, and shouldn’t be claimed as such.

Avoid making promises of future work

The Foundation cannot make explicit promises of future work. This means that speculation of future possibilities – the realization of a specific use case, for example – must be framed through present-day realities.

EXAMPLE:

HUMAN is designed to empower a new generation of AI and ML technologies by supporting job markets in which organizations can request specific human feedback to data, and relevant individuals can be rewarded for providing it.

HUMAN Protocol empowers a new generation of AI and ML technologies by letting any organization access a global workforce of data labelers.

HUMAN Protocol is built to realize a new future for the gig workforce.

HUMAN realizes a new future for the gig workforce.

HUMAN Protocol is built to, designed to, but it may not necessarily yet do. ‘Built to realize a new future for the gig workforce’ is different from ‘realizes a new future for the gig workforce’.

It is possible to allude to HUMAN Protocol’s potential, but this should be in the context of a broader narrative: a PoH (Proof of HUMANity) integration is another step to bringing HUMAN verification to the Internet, and helping more to receive value from their data-labeling contributions.

Focus on community-driven development.

The Foundation is able to report on community-driven development. An example may be the successful integration of HUMAN Protocol into a third-party application. In general, we should rely on partners to make their own announcements, which we can respond to and highlight on social and community channels and, if possible, PR placements.

Link HUMAN’s plans to community efforts.

Whenever possible, link plans – the realization of a decentralized network, for example – to community efforts. Reporting or commenting on what the HUMAN community is doing is the best way to contextualize what we plan to do. We cannot promise outcomes to our plans, but the HUMAN community – including our partners – are free to contextualize what they’re doing through HUMAN Protocol’s broader goals. We should always try to reference or quote community efforts in communications. HUMAN is also the HUMAN community.

EXAMPLE:

The Validator network is not a network HUMAN creates; it is a network created by its community, some of whom may operate as Validators. To announce our work on Validators, we can report on organic community engagement or plan community events, such as a hackathon. Again, language is important here: the Protocol can/is designed to support a network of Validators.

Do not promise or reference money-making opportunities.

It can be tempting, specifically within the crypto market, to refer to HUMAN Protocol as a money-making opportunity. This may refer to individuals or organizations being incentivized to provide services within the network, or to individuals being rewarded for completing data-labeling tasks. In the case of hCaptcha, it is important to note that rewards for using the service are currently distributed to the website, and not to the data-labeling users.

In the future, and specifically once the job dashboard is available via the HUMAN Wallet/App, Workers will be able to earn HMT for completing individual tasks. HUMAN cannot (and should not) promise returns, however. It makes global opportunities accessible to Workers by supporting distributed job markets. Within that, the possibility of a monetary reward is implicit, not explicit.

EXAMPLE:

HUMAN allows individual Workers located anywhere in the world to be rewarded for the tasks they complete, and be valued for their unique knowledge, skillset, or background.

HUMAN Protocol helps everyone make money by using the Internet. The more you do, the more money you make.
